The short version: HealthMedsJournal is free to read and is funded by affiliate commissions. When you click certain links on this site and sign up with a weight loss provider, that provider pays us a commission. It costs you nothing extra. This relationship influences which providers appear on the site — and we put that sentence at the top of every page where it applies, not buried down here.
How affiliate links work on this site
Links to partner providers route through addresses that look like healthmedsjournal.com/recommends/brand-name. This is standard affiliate-link management: it lets us update a partner's destination link in one place and keeps tracking parameters out of our articles. Every one of these links is marked with a rel="sponsored" attribute — the machine-readable way of telling search engines "this is a commercial link" — and the pages that contain them carry a visible disclosure banner at the top. Buttons and calls-to-action that lead to a partner are commercial links; assume any "Visit [Brand]" or "Check Price" button earns us a commission.
What our commissions influence
Honestly: coverage. The providers featured most prominently on our comparison pages are drawn from the set of companies we have researched, and that set skews toward companies with affiliate programs, because commissions are what pay for this site to exist. If you want the fully unfiltered market, our comparisons will not show you every provider in America — no affiliate site's will, and we would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.
What our commissions do not influence
- Scores. Ratings come from the public rubric on our How We Rank page — pricing transparency, total cost, safety disclosure, service terms, complaint records. A paying partner with an F rating from the Better Business Bureau gets that F rating printed in its review.
- Negative findings. Complaint patterns, billing surprises, and misleading claims stay in our reviews regardless of the commercial relationship. No partner can pay to remove accurate negative information.
- Guide content. Our educational guides contain no affiliate links at all. They link to our own comparison pages, which are monetized and say so.
Some providers pay us nothing
We review providers that have no affiliate relationship with us when they matter to the comparison — leaving out a major option because it doesn't pay would make the comparison dishonest. Reviews do not indicate which providers are partners, and scores are calculated identically either way.
Pricing information
Prices shown on this site were verified against provider websites on the date shown as "last updated" on each page. Providers change prices and promotions constantly, and the price you see at a provider's checkout is the one that governs. If a price on this site is out of date, please tell us and we will fix it.
Our promise to you
Affiliate funding is a conflict of interest — every commercial content site has one, whether it's affiliate commissions, display ads, or sponsorships. Our approach is to manage it in the open: disclose on every monetized page, publish the ranking method, keep negative findings public, and never claim independence we don't have. If we ever fall short of this page, we want to hear about it: contact us.
